This hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis collaborates with the craniosacral division of the automatic nervous system, which in turn aids individuals in calming and preventing toxic inflammation (Miskolczi et al., 2019). An inflammation induced by traumatic events might alter how neurotransmitters function in the human brain, eventually affecting brain development.
