The video “How to Relieve the Stress of Caring for an Aging Parent” is crucial. It provides relevant information, especially to those who directly interact with and care for older adults. Although society is cultured in a way that people do not want to grow old-clearly proven by the constant use of anti-aging creams and the fear of going through the phase of change-aging is inevitable, and it is necessary to be prepared. The video addresses important aspects, such as dealing with the denial process (Tedx Talks, 2012). People usually get worried when they see what their parents go through when they get older. The physical and psychological changes that happen with aging call for a lot more responsibility. Unfortunately, since older people cannot handle the responsibility independently, the care providers should accept the responsibility.

Additionally, it is important to understand that no matter what is done during the caring process, it does not change the outcome. Sya’diyah et al. (2020) support this idea by stating that all older adults’ need is someone to be around them, not necessarily someone to change their situation. Therefore, another way of reducing stress while caring for an aging parent is to listen to them and keep them as comfortable as possible. Lastly, since caring for an older person is a lifestyle change, the care providers must adjust to the new responsibilities, which include making decisions for the elderly.

Although the video covers important tips on reducing stress when caring for an aging parent, I believe it did not exhaust everything. Another way of reducing stress is working together with other people to prevent exhaustion. For instance, one can work closely with a health care professional to avoid carrying the burden alone. Additionally, this helps one to keep track of personal growth and awareness amidst the responsibility of caring for an aging parent.

The article “Relationship between caring nurses and elderly loneliness” provides strategies for taking care of the geriatrics and the stakeholder roles, especially in an elderly home set-up. For instance, it states that caring nurses should constantly talk to elderly persons even during their caring duties to prevent them from feeling lonely.
